Industrial Cyber-Security Laboratory - ICSSY Lab

The Industrial Cyber-Security and Safety Laboratory of TECNALIA seeks to be a laboratory which is fully equipped for the research and development, testing and classification of industrial equipment and products. It also serves as a medium for sharing the technological progresses and solutions of TECNALIA, and for training and collaboration with industrial and scientific partners. ICSSY Lab is a TECNALIA platform for developing new cybernetic security solutions that can be used by industrial and scientific users to increase their capacity of resistance to cybernetic threats, reduce security risks and ensure compliance with the industrial regulations. With the ICSSY laboratory, TECNALIA is committed to: Continuous innovation to confront a dynamic panorama of threats with advanced technology. Speeding up the time spent on the development of new cyber-security and protection solutions which are reliable for use in an environment of industrial control. Improving the technical experience of TECNALIA and partners for providing industrial and scientific users with an increase in training against industrial threats and faults. ICSSY Lab initially focuses on the following specific industrial markets: Energy: smart networks, smart buildings, ... Critical infrastructures: transport, public building infrastructures, ... Automotive: ECU, V2V, V2I communications, ... Health: medical devices, surgical robots, .. It covers the following technical areas: Safe design and architecture of industrial components Reverse engineering for embedded and cyber-physical systems Analysis of vulnerabilities in industrial equipment Analysis of industrial protocols and network. Injection of faults and attacks (safety & security) Safe monitoring of cyber-physical systems. Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers.

Remote and/or physical access to pilot plants and industrial process models, in order to carry out research tasks and tests.

Automation and control technologies

Physical components involved in process control. For example: Controllers, PLCs, RTUs, PC Industrial, Robots, Drivers, etc.

Field technologies - Models and pilot plants

Pilot plants, models and elements which implement real processes in the laboratory.

Field technologies - Real installations

Real installations which the laboratory gives access to. For example: energy supervision systems, climate supervision and control systems, etc.

Field technologies - Teaching equipment

Material or equipment designed to facilitate the learning process of a determined subject. For example: training simulators, panels, trainers, modular devices, etc.

Monitoring technologies

Physical components involved in process supervision and data concentration and cleaning so they can then be sent to the next levels. For example: SCADA systems, storage servers, HMIs, etc.

Monitoring tools

Software tools used to monitor processes carried out in the laboratory. For example: WinCC, Vijeo Citect, and the laboratory´s own monitoring tools.

Simulation tools

Simulation tools of real components inside an industrial architecture. For example: network simulators, operation level components simulators, monitoring level components simulators, control level components simulators, field level components simulators, etc.

Software for the management an use of the physical component

Software tools used to manage, programme and configure the laboratory´s physical components. For example: Simatic-S7, Unity Pro, LabVIEW, etc.

Tools for communications management

Software tools used for managing laboratory communications (VPNs,...).
