Weir Group responds to ransomware attempt
Scottish multinational engineering company, Weir Group, has confirmed an attempted ransomware attack in September that caused temporary disruption to some of its activities, such as shipping and manufacturing, but was quickly and effectively mitigated.
Although it did not have a major impact, losses are estimated at £50 million. Work is continuing to gradually restore all activities and there is no evidence of encrypted or exfiltrated data.
