The VPN service known as Safe-Inet is dismantled
The Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, known as Safe-Inet, and preferably used, according to police sources, by cybercriminals worldwide, as it has a robust identity concealment system, was eliminated after a coordinated police operation, within the framework of the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT) in which the German police of Reutlingen and Europol participated, among others.
This VPN service was active for more than a decade and its infrastructure was distributed throughout Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and the United States. Its use includes E-skimming campaigns, ransomware attacks and cyber spying by up to 250 companies worldwide.
Currently, investigations are underway to identify and take action against some of its users.
