TV5Monde hacked by cybercriminals
TV5Monde, second most diffused TV in the world, suffered this 8th April a yihadist cyber attackallegedly associated with Islamis State, that caused emission to stop from 10pm until 1 am. Attackers also gained control of the website and the Facebook page, both assets were recovered at midnight.
UPDATE: 10/10/2016 According to statements by the director general of TV5Monde, subsequent research suggests that the attack would have been carried by Russian hackers known as APT 28. The attack was highly sophisticated and targeted, and its aim was to corrupt and destroy the internet-connected hardware that controlled the TV station's operations.
