05/23/2017

The US store chain Target has been ordered to pay a fine of $ 18.5 million as part of an agreement with state prosecutors over a security breach suffered by the company that compromised the data of millions of customers.

On December 19, 2013, Target confirmed that it had been the victim of an information theft in which the credit card data of around 40 million customers were stolen. Weeks later, he acknowledged that personal information had also been exposed for 70 million people, including e-mail and postal addresses.

As part of the agreement, Target is committed to enhancing its digital security, including software maintenance and encryption programs to protect the personal information of its customers.
