Security breach in Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft was the victim of a security breach in its Outlook email service, which includes @hotmail.com and @msn.com email accounts, after attackers stole Outlook support staff credentials and used them to compromise user accounts between 01/01/2019 and 28/03/2019.

The company has sent an email to affected users explaining that attackers were able to access the email address, folders, email subjects, and other email addresses the user communicates with, but not the content of emails or attachments or login credentials.

Microsoft has recalled that the email login credentials were not directly affected by this incident, but they recommend, as a precaution, resetting the account password.
