Patient data theft at Medibank
Medibank, Australia's largest health insurer, has suffered a cybersecurity incident that has led to a data breach of around 9.7 million of the company's customers and clients.
The initial investigation, according to the company's official statement, reveals that the cybercriminals accessed data such as the name, date of birth, mailing address, phone number and email address of those affected, along with other information such as customer and credit card IDs, among others.
In addition, while the investigation of the incident continues, Medibank has made communication and support channels available to affected customers to clarify doubts and provide updates on the incident.
