One man arrested in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for accessing illegally to personal data of more than 16000 users in ULPGC

La Policía Nacional in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria arrested one man , age 26, accused of illegal access to Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) database , extracting personal data of more than 16.000 users. The hacker, a student in ULPGC, acceded the system using the credentials of a professor, deceased in 2013 and, through privilege escalation, stole the personal data. The hacker was discovered by IT department checking unusual Access to the Intranet.
