Oil company Pemex suffered ransomware cyberattack
The Mexican oil company Pemex has admitted, in an official statement, that it was the victim of a cyberattack on November 10. In that statement, the company specified that the attack affected the operation of less than 5% of its equipment and that production, supply and fuel inventories were guaranteed.
The cyberattacker responsible for the ransomware demanded the payment of 565 bitcoins, equivalent to about 5 million dollars, as a rescue of encrypted equipment, and set the deadline for such payment at November 30, although Rocío Nahle, secretary of Energy, said that Pemex will not pay the ransom.
