New malware campaign distributed through Facebook Messenger
A new malware campaign has been distributed through messages on the Facebook Messenger platform. The messages, through which the receiver is prompted to enter a web address that supposedly shows a video. The moment it is pressed to play the video, the victim is redirected to another different web page where the malware is downloaded.
The type of malware that is downloaded depends on the device being used, the browser, and even the version of both. For example, if you use Google Chrome, an extension is installed, on the contrary, if you access the web address through Firefox or Safari, a false update of Flash Media Player is downloaded. At the moment the purpose of the malware is to be identified.
