Movistar mistakenly uses visitors' computers to mining cryptocurrencies
Several users have reported that Movistar's website has been used to mining Monero cryptocurrencies using visitors' computers without them being aware of it. The technique used has been through the Coinhive script, which uses the ability of the CPU of visitors devices to generate this type of cryptocurrency.
According to Hipertextual the company has reported that this script did not precede any attack, but a trial version whose purpose was to improve the security of their systems against such attacks and that by mistake was uploaded to the website in production. As soon as Movistar became aware of the error, they proceeded to remove the script from their website.
