Mattel, victim of a ransomware incident
The North American toy manufacturer and distributor, Mattel, has had its IT infrastructure affected by a ransomware cyber security incident.
The cyberattack, detected on 28 July, only encrypted data on some systems, with a temporary impact on some business functions. At the same time, the company implemented a response protocol to stop the attack and restore the affected systems.
The forensic investigation has concluded that there was no leakage of confidential customer, supplier or employee data, and that the company did not suffer a material or financial impact.
