IPG Photonics is a victim of RansomExx ransomware
The US company, IPG Photonics, a market leader in fiber lasers for cutting, welding, medical use and laser weaponry, has suffered a ransomware attack that is disrupting its operations.
The specific ransomware used was RansomExx, a renamed version of the old Defray777, which has increased its activity since June of this year.
Due to the cyberattack, IPG Photonics IT systems are shut down worldwide, affecting email, telephones and network connectivity in offices, and manufacturing parts and their shipping are not available.
