Information leak at Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games, a video game company, has posted a message on its official Twitter account acknowledging a cybersecurity incident.
As detailed in the statement, an unauthorised third party accessed the network and downloaded confidential information from its systems, including in-development material from its upcoming GTA VI release.
Moreover, there are indications linking this event to the recent attack on Uber, with suspicions that the perpetrator is the same in both cases.
[Update 29/09/2022] London Police reported that a 17-year-old teenager was arrested on 22 September, apparently in connection with the Uber and Rockstar Games hacks. The alleged culprit, a London resident, has been arrested for the second time in less than six months and is being held in a juvenile detention centre, London Police confirmed. The suspect, nicknamed White, is accused of being the leader of the cybercriminal group LapsusS, responsible for several cyberattacks on major companies during 2022.
