Hundreds of thousands of IP cameras used for the largest DDoS attack
The largest DDoS attack, in terms of bandwidth used, known to date was performed by thousands of IoT devices, mostly IP cameras connected to the Internet believed to belong to a botnet dedicated to this type of attacks. The bandwidth used was close to 620 Gbps, much bigger than any other previous DDoS. The target of this attack was the website KrebsOnSecurity and seems related to the publication on the site of news regarding webpage vDOS, where cyberattacks services are offered.
19/09/2016 There are reports of an even bigger DDoS attacks using the same technique against OVH, a french web host, that reached a peak of 1.1 terabits per second.
