01/27/2020

Ondrej Vlcek, Avast CEO, has acknowledged in an official statement that the company has sold its users’ data to third parties through its subsidiary Jumpshot.

The fact has been revealed in a research carried out by Motherboard and PC Mag, which shows the company’s profitability formula based on the free version of the antivirus and checks that data corresponds to highly sensitive web browsing information.

Before the facts, Ondrej Vlcek and board of directors have decided to stop collecting data and close down Jumpshot’s operations.
