Experts warn of massive attack on MongoDB

01/06/2017

Experts Niall Merrigan and Victor Gerves have warned of a massive ransomware attack on services with MongoDB databases. Due to an incorrect configuration of MongoDB, the attackers could connect to the databases exposed on the Internet and steal or block access to them, asking for a bailout in bitcoins to those responsible for the databases. Expert estimates calculate more than 27,000 servers with MongoDB affected.
