UN data has been compromised
The United Nations (UN) has been affected by a cyberattack on its IT network in Geneva and Vienna.
The incident was revealed by The New Humanitarian thanks to the leaking of an internal UN document, as confirmed by U.N. spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, on Wednesday, January 29th, at a press conference, where he insisted that no confidential information was compromised.
Affected infrastructure included management systems of passwords and users, controls of security systems and firewalls, but exact scope and origin of incident are not known.
In the end, cyberattack was contained and additional mitigation measures were implemented.
