Cyberattack on Transnet causes logistical collapse
The South African state-owned company, Transnet Ltd SOC, which is involved in logistics and supply chain activities for railways, ports and pipelines, has reported an outage in some of its IT applications affecting multiple of its ports.
The incident, due to a cyberattack on 22 July, forced the company to execute certain activities manually and declare a state of 'force majeure' despite having activated its business continuity plan. Technical teams are working to restore all affected systems and investigate the facts of which there is evidence of intrusion and sabotage.
