Cyberattack on AscendEX trading platform
AscendEX, a financial and trading company, reported in a series of tweets that it was the victim of a cyberattack on 11 December when it identified a series of unauthorised transfers from one of its wallets.
The cold wallets were not affected, so the company used them to store all assets while it investigated the attack. Blockchain analytics firms were also hired to assist in the response, and law enforcement was notified.
The cryptocurrency platform has pledged to reimburse its customers, who lost a total of $77.7m ($60 from Ethereum, $9.2 from Binance Smart Chain and $8.5 from Polygon).
