Chip manufacturer Advantech, focused on the industrial automation and IIoT sector, has reported a Conti ransomware cyberattack against its IT network involving the encryption and theft of confidential corporate information and demanding a $14 million ransom.
The ransom note was published on November 26th, however, a spokesman for Advantech has confirmed that the stolen data did not contain valuable documents.
After detecting the security incident, countermeasures were implemented, updating and activating the security and information protection mechanisms.
Currently, affected servers are gradually being restored and critical systems are operating normally. Likewise, new cybersecurity strategies have been implemented in the face of future attacks.
